Come and sing opera choruses with us!

Rehearsals for our spring concert began Jan. 10th. We will sing opera choruses at a gala concert and fundraiser the first week of May. If you have always wanted to sing opera - here's your chance!!

Rehearsals are held each Tuesday from 7-9 pm at United Church at the corner of 20th and G Sts NW. Nearest metros are Farragut West or Foggy Bottom. Auditions are not required - just come and sing. For more information call us at 202-236-3743.

Congratulations to everybody for the outstanding concert last Friday. We will sing Alleluia on Saturday, Dec. 24th at 5pm. Lets get together at 4:15 in the choir room to warm up and rehearse the song.

Holiday concert Dec. 16, 2011

The Washington International Chorus, joined by the United Church of Washington DC Choir, and members of the Bowie, MD Unity Church of Light choir, presents its holiday Concert on Friday, December 16th at 7:30 pm. In addition to holiday songs and carols, the featured work is Navidad Nuestra by Argentinian composer Ariel Ramirez.

The concert is free and is followed by a reception at the church.

The church is located at the corner of 20th and G Sts NW. Nearest metro stops are Foggy Bottom or Farragut West. Parking is limited but there are several nearby parking lots at GW University on H and I Streets between 21st and 22nd Sts.

Holiday concerts

The Washington International Chorus will sing a holiday concert with the Unity Church of Light in Bowie Md on Sunday December 4, 2011 at 1 pm.

Directions: The concert is at the community center on 3501 Moylan Dr., Bowie, MD. From Hwy 50 E. toward Annapolis, exit on Hwy 197 and go left at the top of the exit (toward Bowie). On Hwy 450 turn right and go to a left on Moylan Dr. The YMCA community center will be on the right. There is plenty of parking. Children welcome.

Dimitar Nikolov in Piano Recital

Dimitar Nikolov, the conductor of the Washington International Chorus, will perform a piano recital on Friday November 18^th at 7:30pm. at The United Church (1920 G Street). The recital will be part of the Concordia Concert Series. The program will include Three Pieces by the Bulgarian composer Pantcho Vladiguerov, Sonata 1926 by Bela Bartok, and Mussorgsky-“Pictures at an Exhibition.” “Pictures at an Exhibition” will be performed as a multimedia presentation with slides and narration by the performer. Fall season rehearsals

The Washington International Chorus rehearses every Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm at the United Church at 20th and G Sts NW in The George Washington University area. We are a non-auditioned chorus so do not be afraid to join us for a rehearsal and see if you would like to join. Prior singing experience and the ability to read music are a plus or, if you have always wanted to sing then come and try it. We are rehearsing holiday songs from various cultures and traditions for the December concert. We will also begin working on opera choruses for a spring concert. All ages, over 16, welcome.

Two metro stops are convenient to our rehearsal site since street parking is limited. The Foggy Bottom metro and the Farragut West stops are within easy walking distance. A GW guest parking garage is not far (22nd and I Sts) but they charge a fee.

FALL REHEARSALS BEGIN SEPTEMBER 6th

Fall rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 6th at 7 p.m. with our wonderful conductor Dimitar Nikolov back for his second season. We practice at the United Church at 20th and G Sts. NW, DC. every Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm. Come by yourself or bring a friend. We are recruiting for new members for all voices. Audition not a requirement.

We are advertising for an accompanist and hope to find once before our fall season begins.

The United Church is within easy walking distance from Farragut West or the Foggy Bottom metro stops. It is located in The George Washington University area which is very safe at night. Limited street parking (with meters) is available but metro or bus will be more convenient.

Summer Break

FINAL SPRING CONCERT: May 21st

The chorus repeated the "Songs of Peace and Friendship" concert on Saturday, May 21st at 1 pm at the Bowie Maryland Unity Church of Light. Tickets are free. For the first concert, members of the Unity Church of Light joined with us to sing. For the second concert, we are joining them to sing! Donations always welcome.

Spring Concert April 4th: The chorus performed a spring concert on Monday night, April 4, 2011 at the National Theatre in Washington DC singing songs of peace and friendship. Tickets were free. We had two shows at 6:-- and at 7:30 pm.

If you are interested in joining the chorus, we welcome new members. We practice on Tuesday nights from 7-9 pm at the United Church at 20th and G Sts NW in DC.
