Artistic Director appointed for fall 2018

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jerry Kavinski as our first Artistic Director.  Mr. Kavinski will begin conducting the chorus on September 11, 2018.  He expects to complete his Master of Music Degree in choral conducting at George Mason University this year.  He serves as the Director of Music at St. Caherine of Siena Catholic Church in Great Falls, Virginia and sings tenor professionally. 

He sings regularly with the Washington Chorus and the Cathedral Choral Society.  He served as Chorus Master for the NSO's John Williams Program under the direction of Emil de Cou.  He sang at the 2009 and 2013 Inauguration Day Prayer Services for President Barack Obama, the state funderal for President Geral R,. Ford at the Washington National Cathedral, and Papal Vespers with Pope Benedict XVI at the National Shrine of the National Cathedral.  He sang at the NSO Pops Concerts with marvin Hamlisch, Erich Kunzel, and Emil de Cou at the Kenneday Center and Wolf Trap   His solo engagements include Chichester Psalms with the Washington Chorus, Christopher Bell, Artistic Director, BMV22, 24, 161, & 163 with the Washington Bach Consort, J. Reilly Lewis, Director, was Peasant Leader in Euguen Onegin with the National Symphony under Maestro Leonard Slatkin, and Elijah with the Washington Chorus, Julian Wachner, Director and many other performances. 

We look forward to Mr. Kavinski's tenure as Artistic Director as our chorus continues to grow and mature as singers.
